The Sector for EU and International Cooperation is responsible for coordinating and managing the EU integration process in the area of Chapter 12 - food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary policy, as well as for developing and unifying the policies related to the process of harmonizing the national legislation towards the legislation of the European Union, preparation of reports on progress in European integration in the area of Chapter 12, preparation of activities for negotiations with the EU.
Pursuant to Article 119 of the Law on Food Safety, the Agency for Food and Veterinary Medicine, through the Department for EU and International Cooperation, has the authority to coordinate the legislation and control systems for issues in the field of food safety and animal feed among the competent institutions in the Northern Republic Macedonia included in Chapter 12, as well as for communication with the institutions of the European Union in the field of food safety, animal feed, veterinary and phytosanitary policy.
In addition, the Department for EU and International Cooperation, within its competences, is responsible for organizing and managing activities related to project management, cooperation with international organizations and bodies, coordination of foreign aid in the process of international and bilateral cooperation.
